Neuroimaging is a critical diagnostic tool to assess pathological features following traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI) in the practice of spine surgeons. The use of intraoperative ultrasound may provide synergistic benefits to magnetic resonance imaging, but its use requires further investigation to fully assess its feasibility and utility in the routine management of acute SCI patients across a range of injury severities.

The AO Spine Knowledge Forum Spinal Cord Injury (KF SCI) seeks spine surgeons' input to understand the feasibility and utility of intraoperative ultrasound in managing SCI patients through a short survey.

Using this survey, the KF SCI members seek to understand:

Prevalence worldwide intraoperative ultrasound utilization

Understand possible indications

Obtain understanding of useful information that could be collected in patients with SCI

What additional information surgeons gather and value the most in patients with acute SCI, informing a larger study.

The survey should take you 5 minutes to complete. We will close the survey on January 24, 2022.

The survey is anonymous, and individual information obtained from this survey will be kept strictly confidential. We will inform all participants about the survey outcome on the AO Spine website once the results are published in a peer-reviewed journal.

Do not miss your chance to have a say on the use of intraoperative ultrasound in managing SCI patients.

Thank you for your participation.

Sincerely,

Christoph Hofstetter, MD, PhD, AO Spine KF SCI Member, University of Washington, Seattle, WA, USA

Chris Neal, MD, AO Spine KF SCI Member, Bethesda, MD, USA

James Guest, MD, PhD, AO Spine KF SCI Steering Committee Member, University of Miami, Miami, USA
